| End of School Date and April Vacation As of now, the last day of school for the 2010-2011 school year is Tuesday, June 21st. Due to construction timelines, the Howe Manning School must be vacated by June 23rd. In the past, we have had no-school days due to flooding in the spring and realize that it may occur this spring due to the enormous amount of snow we had this winter. Therefore, in consideration of the potential for no-school days this spring, the School Committee has made the following decisions regarding no-school days, April Vacation, and the End of School date. If there is one more no-school day prior to the April vacation, it will be added on to the end of the school year and the last day of school will be Wednesday, June 22nd. If there are two or more days of school prior to the April vacation, then school will be held on the Wednesday and Thursday (April 23 & 24) of the April vacation. If there are two no-school days, the End of School date will be Tuesday, June 21st. If there are three no-school days, the End of School date will be Wednesday, June 22nd (2 days in April vacation and day added to end of year). These actions will be implemented to ensure that we are on scheduled to turn over the building for demolition and to allow for the opening of the new school in the 2011-2012 school year. We realize that many families have made plans during the April vacation and children may not be able to attend school during the Wednesday and Thursday of the vacation week. We will ensure that these days, while time on learning, will not be days to conduct tests, quizzes, projects or other activities that would impact a child for non-attendance.
